The cooperative has been working super hard on building new huts for visitors in the middle of our communal farm. Six families (the families of our cooperative business members) will work together to host guests here, which will make everything much smoother for visitors and the families alike.
The village is a bit spread out geographically and English is limited in some of the families’ homes, so traditional home-stays with one person in each house can be difficult for both parties. With building a communal space, centrally located between all six family homes and within the main village area, we are now able to host 16 individuals at one time ranging from curious travelers to experienced farming volunteers and everything in-between. The cooperative members take turns cooking, farming the communal farm, and staying with our visitors in the shared space. During the day, guests have the option to work with the company guys on the fields/gardens/orchards, creating the co-op products, or lending a hand in the sustainable construction going on throughout the year.
